Evaluation of Some Mechanical Properties of CAD/CAM Polymers (PEEK/PMMA) and Conventional PMMA Materials: An In Vitro Study

Objective: The present study aims to investigate the mechanical properties of base materials [polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA)/polyether ether ketone (PEEK)] fabricated with computeraided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) and heatpolymerized conventional materials. Material Methods: Two different polymers milled CAD/CAM (Yamahachi PMMA Disk Juvora Dental PEEK) heat-polymerized acrylic resin (Meliodent PMMA) were used in this study. A total 120 specimens prepared 10 each subgroup test Half stored distilled water, while other half subjected a thermal cycle. After cycle, flexural strength, elasticity module, and, surface hardness all was evaluated. Mann-Whitney U Kruskal-Wallis tests analysis data. Results: According findings strength module specimens, highest lowest value ranking as follows: PEEK>CAD/CAM PMMA>heat-polymerized PMMA. In group produced CAD/CAM, values significantly higher thermocycle applied compared those water (p<0.001). Conclusion: PEEK found show better properties.
